partioning drives and storage space DEV folder

stdroid

Lurker
So my phone, like all these precedents, is filling up fast. I partioned my SD card and moved most of what I could to it. here is a break down of what I see when using root explorer...

data: 77.89mb / 83.29mb free
dev: 12k / 140.87mb free
etc: 115.09mb / 45.06mb free
system: 115mb / 45mb free
cache: 8k / 93.75mb free
mnt/asec/ 0k / 140 mb free
mnt/sdcard: 830mb / 698mb free

it would appear that etc & system is the same folder...

I'd like to know if there is any way to use the DEV folder space?

I've deleted almost everything to free up space, i no longer have the app store or google maps

Install Gingerbread (use AreaRom51's 2.3 version) and use an SD card with a 2GB ext4 partition. (Partition the card before you install Gingerbread). You'll have a lot of storage space (how much depends on how large a card you use) and 2GB of "internal" memory to install apps on.

BTW, etc and system are just the same size, they're not the same partition.
