Root Partioning my SdCard

Hello guys i was trying to figure out how to partition my new 32gb micro sdcard so that i can save some internal storage on my optimus m but i cant seem to do it right. I backed up all the stuff i had on the old card to my computer. then i partitioned it from the recovery menu. like this
swap 0
ext 1024mb
and the rest went to fat32

then i did that usb toggle to copy all my apps back onto my phone.

but i have problems with the nandroid backups and restores after this. plus i dont think the phone is actually accessing the ext partition to free up internal storage.

thanks

/system/app and /data/app have to be symlinked to that partition

Is there a link that will teach me how to do this on the optimistic m because all the Googling says that I have to have cm4 or higher installed and this phone can't do cm4 roms.
Thanks again
