Pass Through Car Dock?

moyni

Newbie
Hi,

I am the new proud owner of a Galaxy S3 after having an iPhone 3GS for 3 years!

I was wondering, does anybody know if there is planned to be a car dock that would allow me to just slot the phone into it, and then have the dock itself connected to my USB port in my car?

I know Brodit do one, but its wired and only goes into the 12v socket, what I need is basically one with a usb port on the dock to allow me to connect into that.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know, but have you thought about doing either of the following? :-

1. Just buy any car holder and use a USB cable to attach it to your car.

2. Buy any dock and use some strong double sided sticky tape to attach it to the dash in your car.

Although no US carriers have announced accessories yet, if you go to the Samsung US accessories page and click vehicle docks on the left you'll see Samsung has 12v passthru docks for most of there phones in recent years. But the voltage change takes place in the plug that goes into the 12v outlet so I would think you could buy a USBa male to microUSB male adapter to plug the dock directly into a USB outlet.

Yes, but that means connecting it every time i get into the car, I want to just be able to push it into the dock!

Thanks for that, I am in the UK however.

It would allow the doc to be constantly 'wired' in to my USB port in the car, and I would then just 'clot' my phone into it.

You could also leave a car holder in your car and leave the USB cable always plugged in in your car, then you simply throw the phone in the holder and attach the cable..not much different!

I'm only suggesting workarounds as I don't know of any car docks like the one you're asking for at the moment.
