password doesn't unlock screen

I have recently changed my screen lock password, but the new password does not unlock the screen. Help! Is there a way to by pass the lock screen without having to reset to factory setting?

By chance have you tried the old password. The S3 is suppose to let you reset your Password after so many Failed attempts by then signing in with your Google account. Just keep putting in the wrong one. Don't know how many attempts it will go though.
