Help Password problem

I an unable to update the software on my phone due to a stupid reason,
When I change my password on the computer it requires a specification of me to insert at least one symbol like "#$%^&" into my password in which I do.
But then I get onto my phone and if I type even one symbol into where I need to put the password it will come up with "Invalid Password" so it kind of screws itself over. I have tried entering different passwords without symbols and it didn't give the same error so I am 100% it is the phone not allowing me to type symbols, yet I need it to. Do people know a way around this???

How are you changing the password from the computer? Android doesn't require symbols in the password, so what are you using that adds a requirement that the phone itself doesn't have?

I assume it is the phone password you are talking about, because I can't see how any other would affect the ability to update. But if it is then you are presumably locked out? So I guess I'm not clear what's going on here.
