Help Passwords don't work - Please help!

I've joined to try and get some help resolving a very frustrating issue. I'll try and keep it as brief as possible so you don't fall asleep.

I recently changed to a Samsung Galaxy S6 from an S4. Towards the end of my time with the S4 I started to have problems with logging in on some apps, namely paypal when trying to pay for something on eBay and Microsoft OneDrive. I just kept getting error messages telling me that my password was wrong, even though it wasn't. I was able to log into both Paypal (via eBay) and OneDrive on a PC perfectly normally. My contract was up for renewal so I decided to ditch the S4 and get an S6.

Guess what? Same problem! I've just received my second S6 today as the first one went back as faulty because of the password thing. The 2nd one is exactly the same. It's only on some apps and not others. I've just tried to change my OneDrive password on the app and I got as far as trying to put in a new password but it kept telling me that I had put invalid characters in when all I had entered was letters and numbers (not too many or not enough)?!

I have spoken with both Microsoft and Samsung and thus far they both have no idea. Microsoft, after trying and failing with different things said I need to go back to Samsung as the OneDrive app as was pre-installed on the phone when I got it, so I cannot uninstall/re-install it. I don't have 2 step verification set up.

Here is what I have tried so far, all of which have failed................

1. Force stop on app
2. Disable app
3. Uninstall updates on app
4. Clear app data
5. Clear app cache
6. Restart phone
7. Change password in app

I'm not sure a factory reset will help as it's a brand new phone and several factory resets on the one I sent back didn't make any difference.

Also I have the same issue with Paypal via eBay????

Does anyone have any ideas at all as this is driving me insane!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS and thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your password begins with a character, could it be that your keyboard is automatically capitalizing the first letter? If you have the option to view the password when you enter it, see if something wacky is going on.

If the problem isn't the phone (since you've tried different devices and reset existing devices) then I'd suspect something is wrong with the network or your account specifically. Have you tried logging in from a different network? Maybe public Wifi instead of your mobile network?

Thanks (again!) I was with a different network provider when I had the S4 which was when the problems started, I switched providers when I got the S6. But I don't actually think I've tried to log in via my provider, it's always been over WiFi. I've also tried both at home and at work, so on different WiFi connections. I can log into my hotmail account fine on my phone, which has exactly the same log in details as OneDrive. I'd say it was app related but then I have the same problem with Paypal on eBay? Coincidence or something else?!

Okay, so it's got to be the app ... so what's common between paypal and oneDrive? (<- asked rhetorically) Hmmm ... I'm thinking here, if you smell something burning ... ;)

Hmmmmmmmmm so how do I resolve this? Please, I will go mad if I can't sort it! Frustrating thing is I can't uninstall OneDrive and re-install.

Was OneDrive a system app?

Try looking in menu>settings>accounts and see if your MS account is listed there, then try removing it and re-adding it (a reboot in between might not be a bad idea either).

Yes it's a system app. Microsoft told me to look in accounts for One Drive and it wasn't there and when I tried to add it it just asked me to log in and I was back to square one! No MS in accounts either. Forgot to say that the PayPal thing is only when I am trying to pay on eBay, I can log into the PayPal app just fine

So this morning I was trying to set up the app for my Bank and I was having problems with my passwords on there too. It got there eventually but it took several attempts of putting in my password (correctly!) before it would actually accept it. Also when I was trying to add a new password it kept telling me that it was invalid, even though the password I chose met all the required criteria. This is exactly what happened when I tried to change my OneDrive password. I just don't get what is going on here.

I have a remote access call booked with Samsung this afternoon so I'm just hoping that they can get to the bottom of it when they tap into my phone, although I'm not holding my breath!

Have you tried a different keyboard? If you are using the samsung keyboard, try switching to the generic android keyboard.
