Paste/Paste as Plain Text

I turned off Autofill in Samsung Pass on the new Z Fold 4. It was irritating. Every other time I touched a text box, I would get a little text bubble that would mention something about Autofill. Once I did turn it off, the "Autofill" annoyance was gone. After doing that, instead of the Autofill bubble, I instead started to get a similar text bubble for "Paste/Paste as Plain Text", every other time I would touch a text box. My Note 8 never did that. Is this a new feature of Android, or is the setting/source found in one of the accounts such as Samsung Pass?

Thanks for any help,

Danny

My s21 (Android 12, August 2022 update) doesn't do anything like this, but I don't use Samsung Pass at all. Since you only mention that app my guess is that this is something specific to that particular Samsung app, but as I don't use it (and actually can't even see how to launch it) I can't tell you whether I see something similar on mine.

It sounds like you are touching the text box for too long.
(Autofill IS annoying, but this new issue maybe something different.)

My device is different from yours, but the gneral map of how to adjust the sensitivity should be similar to:

Settings
Accessibility
Touch & hold delay

i don't use samsung pass on my z fold 3. i use LastPass instead. been using for years and years now. its too much of a hassle to port over all of that info that LastPass has over to another platform. with lastpass you can set up autofill and any time it autofills LastPass will ask you for either a password or fingerprint.

maybe try and wipe cache for Samsung Pass....or even better wipe data as well, but then you will have to start over with saving up your passwords as it will delete your data for that app.

I tried adjusting the setting from medium to long, and it did not change this. I am doing a very short press. It must be one of these "ease of use" things that I acknowleged during setup. I said "yes" to some that I probably haven't before.

I absolutely hate those kinds of things!
You get a new device and are anxious as all get out to set it up and play with it, and a never ending pestilence of notifications (ie. interruptions) keep popping up to 'advise' you of some stupid 'feature' that you dont feel like fooling with right then!

Of course, eventually most of us get so sick of it that our hands and minds automatically click on whatever just to make it go away.

Then of course, we have no idea what it is called or where to find it to turn it off when that 'feature' comes back to haunt us later on.

I wish that there was a way to just turn all that crap off with one method right at the beginning for those of us with no interest in that sort of thing.

Thanks for the reply. I don't feel so alone in setting these things up any longer.

I think that there is a way of simply turning off all, or nearly all of these options/features during setup, BUT, you do lose out on some things that could be useful. Honestly, you have to almost be, or really do need to be an employee at a shop that sells and sets up these devices on a daily basis so that you can see what all happens when you say yes and no to various setup options. Unfortunately, some of these broad choices that you are asked to make during setup could potentially affect hundreds of features and behaviors. Right now, the best I can do is avoid anything that involves direct monitoring and submission of user statistics and storage (in most cases) of storage of site and vendor password and login info.

Right now, I could probably go back and do a factory setup, trying to eliminate this, but I really don't have the time. I had just bought and returned a Z Fold 3 after nearly being fully setup. Even if I did this, I don't really know if I could identify which setup permission caused this behavior to happen, and I could even potentially slightly change how I had setup the phone initially, adding yet another feature I do not want or like.

Right now, on the Z Fold 3 and 4 I am having some problems with both not fully displaying some parts of a webpage I use alot, and that bothers me on a new and expensive device. Overall, I am happy wth the Folds, but I am seeing that, at least in my case, they are not without some issues.

I have GBoard installed for the Google keyboard. As a last ditch effort, I got the idea to try messing with the GBoard settings for anything that looked like it could cause the issue. So far the issue seems eliminated. Since I tried a bunch of settings, and not in a one by one fashion, I am not sure which setting did it, if it was in fact only one setting.

I have found that as far as these kind of 'features', I can easily (and probably better) live without any of them.

Even the few that seemed as if they may be neat, cool, or useful have always turned out to be turds in a punch bowl, for lack of a better comparison.

One thing I know is that G-Board is garbage.
There are so many better keyboards out there.
G-Board is one of Google's worst spyware apps.

Simple Keyboard
Hacker's Keyboard
FlorisBoard

These are all great.
