Help pattern lock prob??

i just picked up a used hero for my daughter and the first week she has it and she locks the pattern password and now she doesnt remember the pattern ( yes I worry about her LOL) i searched and i really dont want to do a hard reset cause nothing is backed up

lost please help

Most everything should already be synced with the Google cloud, assuming she signed in. She'll lose text messages, but just about everything else will come back once she signs in again after the hard reset.
