Pay attention to replacement phones

My replacement came. Pay attention to the bottom left corner. I've sent 2 replacement phones back to Verizon because of this.

All the pictures were taken with a spectrum. And before you say something about the angle of the picture. It looks worse in person than in pictures.
I've seen these yellow patches on all the edges of the screen.

#1. Would get data but no call or text signal. #2 battery lasted 3 hours. #3 screen issues. #4 was good but wouldn't take the v7 update(got it figured out after #5 came in) #5 has been okay and now annoys me with car home and bad battery life after v9 update. #6 came in with screen issues.

If I get another spectrum it will be my 7th since starting this 2yr contract. I'm not due for a normal upgrade until march or april

Build quality sucks on these things

Well, THAT gives me loads of confidence! LOL
Thanks a lot! LOL
Keeping my fingers crossed. I can deal with small blemishes, but not big problems. I still would love to know what happened to my phone, that I cannot communicate with play store. It's a puzzler.
Anyway, I think my phone is ready to be shipped back to VZW. They promise a new battery as well. We'll see.
While I was on the phone the rep started OOOHING and AHHHING about the G2? I tild her that may be great, but I can't afford it, so lets get on with fixing my problem.

#1 took 2 hours to program to my number. Verizon store and version phone calls. 3 different sim cards. Constant car home to the point of being unusable.
#2 car home issue again, when on charger phone smelled like burning electronics and would only take certain Chargers. Mostly only Samsung oem.
#3 touchscreen quit working
#4 finally decent phone. Minor car home issues.

GEE!!! Now THAT is not the kind of feedback I was hoping to see. I just got my replacement phone yesterday, and already I am having problems. My old spectrum used to be significantly warm to the touch, but always ran well (relatively speaking).

This one, after taking the OTA update to ZV9, continually complains of "high temperature", (flashing me a warning on the screen), and shuts itself down. How the hell can I use it if it isn't on? It IS NOT overheating.

Should I cab flash back to ZV8 and stay there? At least on stock ZV8 I didn't have any problems like this. Or am I going to have to go through what others in this forum have experienced? "Ring around the rosie" with VZW, exchanging phones for weeks until I get one that works? I am already extremely ticked off!!!

This was actually an issue in one of the revisions of the kernel (not even the stock one) that I saw on my phone. It would get a single erroneous high temp warning, panic and shutdown. It's something with the thermald process being stupid. I had copied some code from a different kernel to add in a configurable kernel based thermal daemon which resolved it for me.

This however, would not be feasible with stock as far as I know.

If you pull up /proc/last_kmsg you can see what lead to the reboot. Odds are, its the same issue... Go figure they wouldn't fix it.

Klembo1957,
You should not be experiencing the high-temp issue.
I'd go to a corporate store and ask them kindly to provide you with a LG G2 or other replacement phone of your choosing. :smokingsomb:
I'm sort of surprised you are getting a Spectrum... These are probably "reconditioned" units.

I am fairly new to all of this, and feel more comfortable with the spectrum, this being my first android phone. I'd rather mess around with this one (spectrum) for a while longer, and see what else I can learn before moving on to other devices. (I'm not as experienced as some people are with android devices)

VZW obviously sent me a defective device the first time I asked for warranty service. If the second one they send is as bad as the first, then I will take your advice. I'm NOT going to spend weeks playing ping pong with them, believe me.

It depends who is doing the replacement. If it is warranty I believe you will get a new replacement. If it is a insurance plan they almost always send you a "reconditioned" unit. I maybe wrong with that. All of my replacements have been reconditioned.

I've always got reconditioned. The last I got still has screen issues and lifetime calls was at 0:0:0. But is getting amazing life on cm10.1. I think I'll give it another week and go to a store. Try for a g2.
