pbxes.org help

Lurker
I can't get calls working from the CSipSimple app running on my Nexus 7. I've connected the app to my free pbxes.org account, and it says it has registered. Also, I can dial *43 and get the echo test working just fine. So far, so good. (Apparently the app is configured correctly).

BUT I can't actually make or receive calls. When I try to make a call, I get "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please try your call again later". CSipSimple's history says the calls are being made to "<10-digit-phone-number>@pbxes.org" (insert an actual US phone number there). I don't know if this is correct to have the "@pbxes.org" part in there. (I assume it is correct, I'm thinking my pbxes account is probably misconfigured.)

I've setup a trunk, hooked it up to google account; I've setup an extension, I've setup an incoming route and an outgoing route. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. Is there another piece to the puzzle that I'm missing? So far I've got just CSipSimple, PBXes.org, and google voice. That's it. Other (old) guides are saying to also hook a SipSorcery account into the mix.

(I know this isn't actually an android question, since I don't think the problem is with android nor the CSipSimple application I'm using. But I have a free pbxes.org account, and their help forum doesn't allow posts because my account is free. Figuring other Android users have figured this out, I am posting the question here.)

I can't speak for the Nexus 7 but the Galaxy Nexus has built in Internet Calling (SIP). Because it is native you don't need any application just a valid SIP Server account.

Have a look when you create contacts if there is an option to tell the dialer it is an Internet Call. I use this feature on my S3 every day and it is wonderful.
Also check under your dialer settings if you create an Internet Calling account.

Good luck.

You've described my problem exactly.

Two other promising things I've tried that also haven't worked are:
1) to get Simon Telephonics to create a SIP connection directly to my Google Voice account, and
2) to create another SIP connection through Callcentric. I used them to get a free telephone number to which to forward my Google Voice calls. While calling that number does forward to my phone via the internet, I can't get Google Voice to forward to that number.

If you find a way to make those work, let us know!
