Help PC cant detect my MT4G

I have a new MT4G and I am tried to connect it to my laptop to browse the card.

Its not detecting the phone. I thought there must be a notification from the phone asking to debug or something but I dont see any.

I am new to Android, I was a Blackberry guy for 5 years. Please be patient in helping me

Does your phone charge when plugged in to the pc? If it does...follow these steps to change the default connection type.

Hit the menu button (the physical button next to the "home" button) > settings > connect to pc > default connection type > disk drive.

I am connecting on that settings but its still not detecting the phone.

finally, i just did a battery pull

That seems to be a temporary fix for me. the problem keeps coming back and every time I have to do the battery pull.
Is this a bug?
