Help PC Connection only available in idle

Hi,

My b/f recently bought a second hand Samsung Galaxy S2. It was rooted when he got it.
Yesterday, just after he'd finished charging it, it started saying that "PC Connection only available in idle" and to "close any applications." There was also a diagram of erm, I think it was a USB cable type thing, flashing up on the screen. He wasn't even trying to connect it to the PC, he wasn't trying to do anything at all.

Could this be something the previous owner has done? I sort of have an idea what rooted means but wouldn't do that with mine as I'm happy with the way things are (I've got a Galaxy Ace)
And if he'd bought this from new he would never have rooted it cos he's got even more clueless than me.. :p

I managed to stop it by phoning him but not sure if that's what stopped it or it was going to stop anyway. I couldn't even switch it off, it just kept powering back up again.

I've seen that it's possible to unroot it. I was thinking this might be a good idea as he hasn't actually personalised it yet.

If anyone could shed any light on this, or show me where I can find the information I'd be eternally grateful. I really don't need another night like last night when the stupid phone kept beeping, eventually turned the sound off.. DOH!! But by then I was awake and had to investigate.. lol.

HELP!! Please.. :D

Regards, Amber

Thank you Ferinthul, I was thinking the exact same thing. It strangely only happens after he's charged it and I managed to stop it today by plugging the USB in which is connected to the computer. It didn't recognise that the phone was attached to the PC but it shut the hell up, lol.

I will tell him to take it back to the shop and ask if the guy can remove the root if not well then I might try to do it.

Thank you again :)
