Help PC does nothing at all when connecting with usb

I have a galaxy s2. When plugging into PC with USB. Nothing at all happens on PC or the phone. No charging, no sounds nothing.

I have tried USB bugging on and off, set it to pda.
New USB cables, various USB Ports.
It is as if it never was connected.

I am on Android version 2.3.5

Can anyone help?

Have you checked the software, installed latest version of kies?

Yes.

With our without kies, the PC doesn't even detect anything has been connected.

Try another USB device of some kind in the PC and see if it detects it.

Problem with the phones USB port? Does it charge with the wall charger?

Try cleaning the port with a toothbrush. Jiggle the port a bit. And can always send it back to have the port replaced.

I Just had a similar issue trying a new iTunes app (Easy Phone Tunes) where my PC would not detect the phone via a good USB port. Found this help page and got it connected:

Think I'll take it back to shop tomorrow to get the USB port replaced.

Might sound like a stupid suggestion, but have you tried a different USB port.
Also, have you enabled USB Mass storage on the device?

I know where he is coming from, Ive already tried all ports, every other phone connects fine in the house its just Samsung phones giving me problems. Ive tried connecting with mass storage, dm mode, teethering, but none gets a response from the pc it haves to be a driver issue that i cant figure out. some1 plz help.

I'm having the same problem. My phone charges perfectly well with a wall charger but nothing happens when I plug into the laptop. tried all 4 usb ports on the laptop and nothing. it is now connecting but won't charge. That's pretty much all I want it to do when I connect it to the laptop and nothing. I've cleaned all ports etc but no joy.

Any further advice/ideas??

Other than testing with another PC and other original cables, the problem could indicate issues with the phone. In that instance, you probably would want to have it looked at under warranty.
