PC Interface Software for C8800

howdy, me again.

I've searched high and low so anyway - I don't have hours to spare so maybe someone can enlighten me - this was also a prt oa a thread that apparently no one's interested in so.... I'll try here:

For some reason Hi Suite or ActiveSync will connect my phone via USB to the PC even though my PC says it's connected. I can even manually "explore" it in file manager.

I've only had a smartphone for about a week and I'm starting to think that I should try something else.

I'm starting to think that either these new phones weren't ready for production or I got the wrong system.... Would an Iphone be better?

You should be able to select what mode the phone connects in. It sounds like it's connected in mass storage mode which means it probably won't be able to sync in the way you've suggested.

On some phones, when you're connected you can pull down the notification bar at the top of the screen and you'll be given the option to choose the connection type. Do you see this option?

yes, thank you for replying. I've done both - connected with and without mass storage option.

This works ok on Vista at home. Just not on the XP Pro 64bit here at work.
