Help PC not recognizing Arc

It worked at first, when i connected via USB it gave me the option to connect in either MSC or MTP, default is set to MTP i think. Anyway, now when i connect my phone it says in the status bar "Connected via USB in MTP mode" yet my PC won't recognise it at all. I've tried both modes and when i try MSC it says "Please connect phone" even though it already is. It can't be the USB port on the phone because it works fine when i'm charging it. I've also tried the same USB ports on my laptop with various other peripherals and they are fine.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled PC companion but to no avail.

Don't know what to do really, short of taking out the SD card and putting stuff on it manually.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

I have exactly the same problem. The stupid thing is that I am on a family plan so both me and my partner got one. But hers works on the same cable on the same computer, but mine will not do anything at all. It shows it is connected on the phone but the computer does not see it. I know it isnt the computer because it recognises my partners. What the heck?? I've already had to do 3 master resets on this silly new phone because of other issues....
