Help PC not recognizing Epic - no help in other threads...

Need a little help
I've read through the other threads on this topic and can't find an anwer to my issue:

Since I first got my Epic I've been sometimes using my PC to charge it via USB and it was prompting the Charge/???/Mass Storage menu options. I would always push "Charge".

At some point it quit asking this...

Now I'd like to root and its not giving me this option any more when I plug the Epic into my PC (honestly not sure when it quit asking this question).

I've only had the phone since Monday and am new to Android.

Currently:
Windows XP Pro SP2 32bit - I have downloaded & installed the Samsung x32 drivers
Wifi/BT/4G/GPSff
USB Debugging is off (unchecked)

If you are trying to Root, turn debugging ON.

If you slide down on the notification bar can you get the an option to mount the phone?

Debugging ON or OFF doesn't matter... not getting the mount options in notifications any more...

Assuming you've tried rebooting both the computer and the phone?

Try a different cable?

Yes on the reboots... only 2 hubs on my laptop... tried both. I'll give another cable a try...

So I rebooted both PC & Phone & new cable and it worked! go figure... thanks!
