Phone, computer type, and whether the device is rooted is sort of needed to answer this question. And by sort of I mean absolutely required.

Tethering~

Galaxy S comes with built in tethering, though again no one seems to care because it's just Samsung. If HTC has something like this I bet everyone will cheer for them.

I believe that for most other phones you will need to root your device in order to use tethering.
