Most apps are paid, you might want to try something like Imperio? I used that for a while and found it pretty good.

You can logout/login/reboot remotely, but if you turn it off that's it until someone physically hits the power button.

I am viewing the real time vnc site. I don't see were they have the price listed for the 5.8M in the real time VNC site. So, before I take a chance with this thing, I would like to know if one can hear sound and view videos remotely?

After a full day of trouble shooting I finally got the VNC to work on my computer, but I am having trouble with having sound to play on my phone. Are you able to hear sounds from videos with the VNC viewer?

Can't see anything that would cause offence!

I've never used VNC, but I speculating it would depend on the quality of the connection. Are you viewing over WiFi or 3G?

I want the droid to run DOS commands to the PC, something I doubt is posssible, but have to ask to be sure.

You can't do direct input of course, but if you remote in with VNC or similar, what's stopping you from opening a terminal with:
Start > Run > cmd
...and running DOS commands same as normal if you were at the machine?

I am trying the imperio remote, but every time I try to download the desktop client it take me to the login page. And if I am already logged in it takes me to the page where I can change my information.
