my pc wont recognize my htc wildfire phone. I am trying to download my pictures but it wont recognize the phone. What to i have to do?

It sees that something is plugged in but doesn't recognize it as an HTC Wildfire? It see that something is plugged in, but sees it "unknown device"? Or it doesn't see anything plugged in? Those are 3 different problems.
