I successfully created my first app by using the tutorial in http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html
But the Launcher Icon was not displayed. I played around creating new apps with various settings for Minimum Required, Target, and Compile With SDK, then testing on various AVDs and on my mobile phone. The Icon was absent in all cases.
Now comes the peculiar matter: When I by chance created an app with ALL THREE SDK settings at max (=21) and then changed the Min Req SDK to say 11 (for my phone to be compatible) the Launcher Icon was displayed as it should! This behaviour was reproducible. Maybe this "workaround" could be useful for someone else. Has anyone any idea about the reason of this behaviour?
The x86 adt-bundle inkluding eclipse, SDK etc was downloaded Nov 4 2014 to my laptop running Windows 7. My phone is Samsung GT-I9300.
