Penalized for preordering the RAZR

I preordered the RAZR 10/27/11 at 8am. I called customer service today to follow up on the status of the preorder. Customer Service stated that the preorder was processed and it would ship on the 11/10/11 and it would ship 2 day air however the 12th falls on Saturday so the arrival date should be 11/14/11. 4 days after it has been released in verizon stores. I spoke with 3 different customer service rep's and all had the same response.
I questioned the benefit of the preorder and there only response was you will get a phone reserved for you, In the event of a sale out. This is the first/last time i have preordered and i have never had a problem going to a Verizon store a hour or two prior to the store opening on a launch date to get and receive a phone that i wanted. I thought by preordering it would come a couple days early and i was spending the money anyway for this phone so why not.
When i preordered the verizon rep stated i should receive the phone on the 3rd or 4th of Nov. but he was not 100% sure. I am little put out by expecting one thing and getting the opposite. Anyway i though i would throw out my experience of the day with Verzion. :(

Take what they tell you with a grain of salt!

Historically customer service rep's at VZW don't have a great track record for accuracy. In the past, VZW would often ship pre-orders a day or two ahead of the release date so their arrival coincides with the release date. At this point we have no definitive information to indicate that they have changed this policy...

Zero reason to pre-order this phone. The only reason it would sell out is if each store only gets 5 in...lol! Like the OP said, an hour early on launch day is the ticket.

The agents give you a canned answer as they have no clue what is going on with orders. I do know I pre-ordered both the Incredible and the Thunderbolt with Verizon and received the Incredible 3 days before release day and the Thunderbolt 2 days before release day. So for me there's a big benefit to pre-ordering and I won't do it any other way. Also when I logged in to pre-order my wife's Razr this morning it did tell me I would receive receive "free overnight shipping" which I assumed anyway because I've always gotten it in the past. By the way this is my second order as I ordered mine on the 27th.
Good Luck Everyone!

If you move to the page on Verizonwireless.com where you can add the Razr to your cart it says "free overnight shipping" that does make a big difference in how quickly you receive the phone.
Sorry for the multiple posts everyone!
