Help Perfect phone... Terrible Camera...

I switched from att Samsung Infuse, and i was using my phone as camera

85% of the time... crystal clear. This phone tops that phone by far

BUT....THERE CAMERA SUCKS! everything i take is blurry. I got mine, and

my wifes phone from amazon for $.01 during black friday weekend. They

both do it.. havnt tested other. Anyone else having issues, is this a

hardware or software problem? thanks !

One of the problems is that the camera app doesn't give you direct shutter control. Unless you select support mode you can't get a reasonably high shutter speed if the light is even a little low. Also the zoom is pretty bad. I don't know what the deal with that is but even accounting for hand shake the images are always soft when zoomed in.

Yeah i must admit the stock camera app is not great,i changed to camera zoom fx and it seems to help alot with the quality of the the pics.

Guess everything is relative, since I think (and so do most reviews) that the Razr camera is OK to good, but not as good as the Rezound, as an example. If you guys think the Razr camera is awful, you would bring up your lunch and dinner with the cameras in the devices mentioned above.

I do not get blurry pics on the Razr, but did on the Incredible, Droid 3 and DX2. If you are referring to moving objects, yes, I get blurry pics, but do on most phone cameras.

Still say that if a camera does not have an optical zoom, it does not deserve to be called a camera (from a stand alone perspective). I still find it funny how some pick on different cameras and actually use a digital zoom. By default, this negates their photo cred ;)

I tried Camera, CameraZoomFX, and ProCapture on the Bionic. All of them are great sometimes and terrible other times. You might want to check them out on the Razr.

... Thom

I turned off the default 6mp (Wide Screen) mode which switches the camera to 8mp. It might be just be the crazy inside me that makes me think the pictures look better, but you may want to give it a try.

Absolutely agree. This phone is amazing and I am absolutely in love with it...but the Camera is horrible.

Well.... I do NOT agree, since I think the the device is good and the camera is okay. Tons better than the D3 and previous Motos.

More objective reviewers agree with me, so you all are Razr camera haters! It is a new trend, insteading of hating the whole device, you pick on one thing: Modular haters ;)

I am a modular hater on the 4G battery life and fixed battery :) Though I am joking about you guys, I am not about me. Fixed battery plus 4G = sux BIG time.

Ya'll do know there is image stabilization setting that you can turn on and also the default pic setting is 720p just change to 1080p and turn on stabil and you should be good, mine takes great pics.

Do not bother. They are blinded by the dark side of the Force. ;)

Just having fun :)

Consider this... I don't think anyone needs "photo cred" to know that their digital and supposedly automatic and idiot proof modern camera is doing a poor job. The results are instant and obvious.

So you DO use a digital zoom..... ;)

Your opinion, so cool. I do not agree (nor do many if any reviews), but I am used to other Droids and the Incredible, so nowhere to go but up. I have yet to see a review that calls the camera bad, but average to good seems the trend in reviews. The trend for the Rezound is good to great.

At least we agree the rest of the phone is good :)

Just killed my desire for the razr lol. But it seems like motorolas cameras are lije that. Ever since the 2.3 update on the droid x the cameras have sucked. I actually went to a charge from a bionic because of the camera (i "need" a camera on a regular basis). Solid phones though.

The camera considerably better than the Bionic. Reviews state it, so not just me saying it.

Not as good as the Rezound, but fine for impulse pics. Suggest testing yourself, rather than listen to any of us in this thread.

To be clear, I have no complaints whatsoever about the camera except that I haven't had time to test it at all.... and that's not a camera complaint but a complaint regarding my lack of enough spare time.

As for digital zoom.... let's just say I use it only when "cornered" and have no other option. If the camera is better than those found in the DX I just retired, I will be quite pleased and I don't expect it to stand up to a dedicated middle of the road camera only piece of hardware. The DX camera was crap to me but it was also the first camera I ever tried to use that was a part of a cell phone.

I truly am looking forward to making good use of a very capable piece of hardware.

I have no complaints, not oging to take more than 5 photos with my phone in the next 12 months anyway.

love the phone but my camera takes really dark pics. I don't have stabilization issues though. When I try to lighten them, it gives a glare. Such a dissappointing camera :( My daughters fascinate takes better pics.

You would think Camera Experts would check out the options before criticizing.

For the couple dozen pictures I take in a month (at most), the camera is plenty servicable....my Canon and my wifes Iphone take crappy pictures in some environments as well. A camera on a phone (for me) is for capturing something on the fly...and for that it works fine. I did a few test shots outside yesterday and I was quite happy with the results, although I am not blowing them up to an 8x10...I find the razr makes a pretty good photo album with this nice screen.

I find the camera works pretty well honestly. Comparing from my Dinc, DX and finally DX2 it is a better camera overall. I use a couple different camera apps (cam360, camfx) and find they improve the pics over stock settings. Not really sure what the big complaints are to be honest. And yes, I use my phone camera a LOT, so I've got some experience comparing from other phones I have had.
