Permanently stop services and programs from starting

Mayhem

Android Expert
I found a thread that mentioned how to stop services, but the one I want to kill (Skype) starts again at boot.

I'd also like to permanently stop Amazon MP3 and Corporate Calendar from launching at start since I don't use either. According to Battery Improve2 they're starting. But they're not listed in my services.

Is there an application that will do this? If possible, I'd like to be able to start the the programs at will if needed. That's a "would be nice to have" but not a "must have."

I've also noticed that from time to time random programs show up twice in my list under Battery Improve2. I can kill one of the instances and it doesn't affect the other one. Has anyone else seen this happen?

I assume this means the program is actually starting multiple times and it's not a glitch in Battery Improve2, but I'll email the developer.

I'm on the Ally with SW Version VS740ZVC.

Thanks.

These bloatware apps are probably just cached in memory (Android tries to anticipate your needs that way, or anyway what your phone provider would like your needs to be) and not actually using CPU cycles or battery power to an appreciable degree. As far as I know, the only way to get rid of them permanently requires rooting the phone (which voids your warranty, and takes a bit of reading and preparation to do, although it gives a lot more control over the phone). For a less drastic solution, you can "freeze" and "unfreeze" apps with Titanium Backup, but this also requires root.
