permissions photo video voice

Why is there no public outrage over app developers that require u to give them permission to take video voice at anytime? I dont get it. Thats the ultimate invasion of privacy and creepy. For example browesers dilphin, firefox or a app like ebay just to name a few. Why do people accept these permissions to use their apps. What do the companies use these pictures video and audio for?

THIS APPLICATION HAS ACCESS TO THE FOLLOWING: HARDWARE CONTROLS TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEOS Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This allows the app at any time to collect images the camera is seeing. RECORD AUDIO Allows the app to access the audio record path.

Most of the time, permission make sense and are explained in the description. eBay makes perfect sense to me, as it is a retail site. If you wanted to list a product, you probably want to include a picture. I have no problem with this.

I've been using an older version of Dolphin HD, so I haven't seen the newer permissions. Browsers probably have a reason, so I'll see what the description is.

Edit: Duh, just hit me. Browsers support voice search. Perfectly logical.

Yeah ebay is cool when i submit a pictue for my auction what i take isse with is them being able to take control of ur camera
And take pics, video audio at anytime

It can't actually take control of the camera. It won't sneak pictures of your pocket or anything. It just allows it to have access whenever the app requires it. Picture it like you're using the messaging app. If you want to attach a picture, it offers you the choice us using the gallery or taking a new picture directly.

The app only has access to things like the hardware when you request it.

Oh thanks for the clarification. I guess the permission shoukd rewrite what it actually means, cause the way its worded sounds like a issue. So based on ur experiences i shouldnt worry about it?

No, I don't think so at all. The reasons these apps need certain permissions makes sense to me. Not to mention, these are big name apps we're talking about. Imagine the controversy if eBay was doing something it shouldn't. If you were asking about a knockoff game of Bejewled or something, though, then it would be a red flag.

Way to be on the lookout. I think permissions are something most people don't bother reviewing. It's like software terms of use. Too few of us actually know what we're agreeing to.
