Personal Organization with Android

Hi,

One of the things we look for in Android is a way to make our lives easier and more organized, right?!

I have used Google services: calendar, docs and gmail to keep my life organized on my Android as well as on my desktop, and it's always worked wonderfully well! :)

On Android. I use and abuse the voice recorder to remember things when I can't type and also the built in Notes app. Also the Calendar and Gmail.

Recently, I've tried some of those apps that allow you to make audio, picture, written and all sorts of notes and sync through devices and platforms and stuff (Catch, Evernote). They are all pretty neat and useful, and I was using them as a complement to the Google stuff. The problem is that they are either limited or paid.

Then, something didn't feel right. I'm back to the good old days using only the free google stuff. They all have their particular use in my little complex life and it's all good.

Now, for you guys. How does Android work in terms of personal organization? Do you use the stock Google apps or others too?

I work as you do but also I use Google Calendar Sync to sync my OutLook calendar at work.

You can also use the Mircrosoft Active Sync feature in the mail client (in Sense anyway) if your employer runs OWA with the APIs enabled.

I have a Desire HD with me at all times and an Asus Transformer at home, but I can't seem to get calendar updates from Desire HD to reach the Transformer. It used to work, when I started everything first time around, all diary dates from the phone appeared in the Transformer's Calendar, but since then, changes to the Telephone Diary don't reach it - and changes to the Transformer don't reach the telephone. Both are signed into Gmail / Google - I'm probably just being really dumb - can anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong?

I use all the free Google apps. The only downfall (as I was cleaning up some contacts yesterday) is the galk and Google + actually make an addtional contact entry as opposed to adding to an existing contacts profile. Not a biggie as a simple copy and paste cleaned it up. Do however wish it was pure integration.
Gmail is ideal as sync is right on as I use it as my primary email client. Plus reminders can be set through the Gmail also.
Still trying to nail down pure sync between browsers on the phone and laptop. Use Firefox on pc and either LG stock or dolphin on my Esteem. Will be checking chrome here shortly.
Dropbox and Box are no trainers as there apk's to sync between the pc and device. Love the idea of never losing a picture as some my friends have by encountering bad as cards or old tempermental devices( aka G2).

Make sure both the phone and tablet have an active internet connection (wifi, 3g, 2g) at the time you make changes. Also, make sure the sync is activated for the calendar app. Go to settings, accounts and sync and check the stuff down there.

If it used to work, all I can imagine is that some setting is wrong.

Good luck and let us know if it worked. :)

Combination of apps. Any.do is great all rounder, but for simple notes there are sticky notes, & for quick shopping use a simple checklist app. Adobe reader for pdf. Remind me is a quick & simple reminder app. Any.do can do all this but sometimes I want the simplist widget handy for the simplest task.
