Help Phantom notifications

My phone often beeps to alert me of a notification but when i check my phone.NO notifications .
Why ?.

It misses you :)

Check your Email clients and the accounts set up. Some apps like yahoomail have been known to do this. You may be getting an Email (causing the beep), but your client may be moving it to spam or another folder causing the notification to not be presented by the time you look.

I had another phantom notification.I have an email through outlook on my laptop but the notifications options in outlook on my phone are all turned off.

What about gmail and the different labels? Did you recently download anything and it start happening?

You could also boot your N5 into "Safe Mode" for a day or so and see if the Phantom Notifications continue. If it stops, then you can narrow it down to a rogue user installed app.

You can also go to /Setting/Sounds & Notifications/Notification access/ and see what apps have any notification access on the device and from there either allow or deny notification access for that particular app.

Can't find a notification access option in my settings but i have disabled gmail notifications and deleted outlook from my phone and not had one so far today.

Try adding a "Settings shortcut" widget on the desktop, select Notifications. It might not show anything if it doesn't show in the notification bar in the first place, but worth trying

Are you sure it isn't the NFC chip making a sound because you placed the phone on something that triggers it?

Bank cards, travel cards etc. may be the cause.
