Root Phireomod overclock and freezing up

Travst

Lurker
After running CM7 7.02 successfully, I decided to try one of Dalingrin's overclock modules. I have the current Clockwork recovery module and performed a backup before flashing the new kernel (update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-061811.zip). At reboot, the screen went blank and that was it. I was able to boot into recovery and flashed my backup.

Then I tried Phiremod 6.3. Everything was smooth until I attempted to overclock again using Phiremod settings. I even tried SetCPU and I get an immediate freeze after changing the settings to 1200mz. I did a search and everyone else seems to be running fine with Phiremod and Dalingrin's kernels.

Any ideas? With CM7, I had the Nook Color overclocked to 925mz with no problems.

After reading another thread, I loaded nightly #108 and the Dalingrin 6-18 module and am holding steady at 1200mz.

Yup, that 6/18 kernel is not compatible with Phiremod 6.3 or any of the stable CM7 releases.

Thanks for clearing it up, nice to know it wasn't me. I'm really happy with the 108 build and the 6/18 kernel. Very stable, and very fast. I did like Phiremod as well, nice icons and worked very well. I just couldn't get it to overclock with it's native CPU tweak.

Odd. I have mine at 1300 no problem running PM6.3 without and different OC kernal. I guess some of the NC are pickier than others or something.

Phiremod = CM7 + overclock kernel so no reason to flash a kernel, unless your PM is really old, then might as well flash to a newer Rom.

BTW, the newest kernel that works with any version of PM older than the test version (6.3, 6.2, etc) is 0424. There will be no more kernels for those roms.

Also, don't use SetCpu for NC roms.
