Help Phone/Bluetooth "Echo"

Serephen

Newbie
I'm having a slightly annoying issue. When I connect my Bluetooth I can hear my ringtones, notifications, and the noise when I hit my volume button in my Bluetooth headset, as well as on my phones speaker.

Example: When I get a text message, I hear my notification on my phone, then it plays on my headset.

Is there any known way to fix this issue? It's getting slightly annoying and I would like to fix it before it gets really annoying.

I tried to search for the answer with no luck, so please excuse me if this was already explained before.

Model: SPH-M830
Android Version: 4.1.2

Any other information needed please ask. I'm a bit new to the forum style.

If ur using BT try turning your phone on silent/vibrate you should still get the notification via the headset... Right??

That was the first thing I tried. No sound period on vibrate or silent.

Oo sorry thought that would still play sound in your headset. U might could try turning your phone volume down to like 1 where you can't hear it and your Bluetooth up but idk for certain....figure its worth a try

Also no good :/ when I change the volume it also changed my Bluetooth volume. That is one confusing part though. I can't change the ringer volume using my headset buttons but if I hit the volume button in my phone I can then use BT buttons to change a separate volume in my BT, not on my phone. But when my volume display disappears from the screen I can't change it anymore.

Example: Push BT volume button, nothing happens.
Push phone volume, hear sound on phone and in BT.
Push phone volume button, then hit BT volume while volume is displayed on screed, hear ascending/descending tone for volume on BT. Volume DOES lower for BT but not phone this way.

It seems my BT may be defective or not fully compatible. Though this is the best BT I've used so far lol

It sounds like it may be connected through a media router or something. I'm not sure tho not very tech savvy in the BT...unless its a stereo headset.. Sorry wish I could help

Did you try disconnecting the Bluetooth, turning the volume down on the phone, then reconnecting the Bluetooth?

So it seems there is no hope besides getting a new Bluetooth or learning to recode my phone somehow. Thx for the attempted fixes but after 2.5 years of using this BT I guess it must be time for an upgrade, but I'm not even sure the next one I buy will work right. I hate having to buy a BT b4 I can see if it works.
