Help Phone bricked itself?

My RAZR MAXX has been working just fine, even after travel to Germany (connected to Vodaphone just fine). I have the phone in the Bahamas and it has a Batelco SIM in it. It handled voice calls as expected. 15 Apr., I bought a data access package as my original package was expired. Installing the package required having a Batelco rep enter the needed APN data. After that, the phone worked well with the data and voice networks for 12+ hours. The wheels fell off when I powered down the phone.

On powering the phone back up, it does the opening red Motorola logo, the opening animatation with full audio, and then goes into the "dancing sparks" animation. And that's where it stays. It's been running in this mode for over 30 minutes since I last tried to power the phone down to pull the SIM and SD card ([/shrug] might as well try that). Actually, at this point, the phone seems to be reluctant to power down (holding the upper button down may or may not lead to powering down and even if that happens, the phone just starts to reboot instead of staying dark).

The OS is an OTA Jelly Bean supplied by Verizon (can't read the detail rev numbers of course). The only recent changes I can point to are some pushed app updates (Firefox, Facebook, and I forget the third) and the entry of the Batelco APN.

So the question is this: is there any way to give the phone a good swift kick to break this cycle or am I looking at a bricked RAZR MAXX?

Have u tried a soft reset? Hold down the power button and volume down button at same time for 10-20 seconds

happened to me when i was rooting my first maxx. can you boot into recovery? you get there by holding the vol down button when you first reboot the phone. it should be a black screen with a list of options in white text, that says somewhere on it that "the device is ready to program" or that the battery is low.

if your battery is low, you're going to need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910027.

if you CAN program it, you're going to need to go get motorola's ADB (i think that's it...) program and push a new rom to it. you're stuck in what's known as a bootloop.

go over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/ or Portal - DroidRzr.com and you should be able to find exact instructions.

I deliberately let the battery go flat to keep the phone from spinning its wheels. I'll try the soft reset and hope for the best...

Soft reset didn't help. The phone still cycles through the start of the boot process. Powering down with the power button doesn't stop the phone from trying to reboot. Sigh... off to read up on reloading the ROM, I guess.

I found out how to get to the boot menu, dropped into recovery mode, wiped the cache and... no change. I used the boot menu to do an FDR... no change. WTF???

Long, long, long story short, I used this topic to stop the boot loop and get the phone to the point where it will boot correctly. The problem now is the phone refuses to recognize either my Batelco SIM (the one I've been using here in the Bahamas) or my VZW SIM. The Batelco SIM is still functional. I used it in my back-up RAZR flip phone and lets me make voice calls as usual.

The phone boots into the "Welcome" screen used for initial setup. The battery and signal bars (with the little red circle and slash symbol for no signal) are present. After a couple of seconds, the SIM icon shows up with another slashed red circle over it - no SIM found. If I try to continue, the next message is a gripe that no SIM is present and setup can't continue. Pulling the SIM and replacing it doesn't change anything.

Has anyone seen anything about a "SIM not found" issue?
