Help Phone bricked

I tried to install a new update for my phone using Kies for the first time. I pulled the phone out of the USB. Now my phone screen has a thing like this. [computer image]..../!\....[phone image]. I pressed Volume down, Home and Power and now it says Downloading... In Yelow/Orange writing. There's no picture just that text. What do I do after. I have no experience with this at all so I need everything explained.

and it still comes up with downloading? First thing I'd try is the kies recovery software option,if that don't work then you are heading down the road of flashing it yourself with odin.
Try give a bit more detail if you can what happens when you connect it to the pc in the downloading mode and if kies picks it up etc.
 
I've downloaded Odin and the Cooper file, Odin picks my phone up but I dont knoow what to do with the other options like boot. Im not sure what other files I have to download are. The .tar ones
I'd prefere just to flash it with Odin
 
My current OS is Froyo. Is that okay?

EDIT: It says cannot open the USB serial port. code: 32
 
It's fixed! Is this the latest version of Gingerbread? The background is still that grey colour, I thought it was supposed to be black.
