Phone broken, trying to transfer text messages

My Droid Razr broke recently and I have the replacement coming tomorrow. The only thing broken on the phone is the screen. Otherwise I believe it is functional because the status light is working and when I press the screen on button and slide my unlock thing to the right, I feel that quick vibrate

Is there anyway or any application that I can download remotely that will back up my messages without me having to do anything on the phone? I remotely downloaded the app called SMS backup and restore, through the google app store online, but does this app require me to do anything on the phone? Or has it already backed up my messages?

Is there any other way I can recover my messages?

If your phone has USB debugging enabled, you could try MyPhoneExplorer. It will sync your phone to your desktop.

I was thinking about another option. Could I use my HDMI cord, hook the phone up to a tv or something and use the phone that way? does that work?

I don't know, sorry. Different manufacturers do HDMI differently. Might be worth a try.

Let us know if this works. I'd really like to know if you can see your screen via a TV.
