Help "Phone" button problem

Lurker
A problem that I just encountered is when trying to call someone. I hit the phone "button" at the bottom and my screen turns blank (gray). I still have my notifications bar at the top and I can hit the back arrow to go back to my home screen. The only workaround (and only if I want to call someone that I've texted) is to go to messages and call from there.

My phone is essentially "out of the box" with a few marketplace apps loaded. I haven't fiddled with any settings (root, etc), so I can't see what I could have done to cause this. I've also turned my phone off and back on, with no noticeable results.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

What happens if you go to the app drawer (tap the "up arrow" on the left side of the bottom bar on the home screen), and tap the green telephone handset icon labeled "Phone"? Does it do the same thing?

Yes, I do experience the same problem when I access my phone from the applications screen. Also, I've noticed that the functionality is still there within the phone "app." I hit a random spot on the blank screen and it dialed someone.

Powering it completely off and then reseting it after it came back on seemed to fix it. And by fix it, I mean it's not doing it anymore...not necessarily fixed. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again.
