Phone Case Cost $200

Definitely not, in my mind. Sad thing, though, is people will shell out an arm and leg for those things I bet...

Pretty cool but I've seen some other ridiculous gold plated cases that I imagine go for a bit more. ;)
I'm partial to the ones with tasers built in. :D

It looks really nice but not 200$ nice...

I know the ones that have the battery built into them at pretty expensive, like 80-100$ and i know a lot of people buy those.

of the millions of iphone owners.. all he needs to do is sell to a small percentage of them. and he will laugh all the way to the bank!

what is it that iFans love to say... look how much apple's profit margin is.
here is one more point for their side. :P hahaha lol....

Another reason why I would hold back on getting an iOs device. If it's for Apple it will cost three times more. Just look at Walmart and what not selling an extremely cheap iOs case for 30$ when you can go to ebay and buy 6 for the price of 1 with the same or lesser quality.

I am working with a company that will offer cases that are more than 300.00. Preorders are said to be good to great; more money coming in than going out and that is always good.

And I am sure you can find costly Android cases, too. The problem with making Android cases is there are too GD many models and sizes. If I were making accessories for phones, I would go with Apple products. Only a few sizes to worry about and we know the money is there.

As for Apple products being more costly, it is likely true to some extent. So what? Be glad we live in an economy that can still support such things as 300.00 phone cases.

I would never spend so much just for a silly case. If sales are good, expect more of the same.

$200 is nothing compared to this one...i kid you not it costs $100,000

$100,000 iPhone 5 case features natural sapphires and rubies

These cases are obviously not aimed at me and thee. This case has nothing to do with the Apple iPhone or its high cost. For every pedestrian device out there, some marketing wonk figures someone will purchase a costly version. It has been this way all of my life.

I love fountain pens. I do not spend allot of cash, but I can. FPs costing tens of thousands of dollars are easy to find. Same thing with every other device I like. For example, multi-million dollar pocket watches and cars.

I am not surprised to see a 100,000 case covered with gems. Not one bit.

lol that is truly ridiculous, if you drop that case it will probably shatter along with your iPhone. There goes that investment, is there a lifetime insurance policy that you can get with the case...screw the phone!

But consider who can afford to purchase such a case. Forgetting that it is ugly as a boiled dragon and yes, dropping it will cause fiscal damage, it is sold to people that can afford it and can afford to replace it if damaged.

I am sure there is insurance to cover the loss.

If my income were measured in tens of millions per year, a hundred grand is nothing. Just get another one, no problem. Do not look at it as an investment. Look at it as an example of what the ultra-wealthy purchase.

Find a way to cater to that segment of the market and advertise on this forum.

I am thinking of making a costly stylus. Perhaps hand machined sapphire in a platinum sleeve with a nice black opal end cap. I am sure some of you will buy a 5,000 stylus. All I need are a few sales.

I be stylin. After a few dozen sales, I can afford me one of them there 'spensive iPhony cases too.

Well, the iPhone is the most bad-ass phone, so why not spend $200 on the most bad-ass case for it.

Just kidding :D

I don't get it.

Do not feel bad. The folks that purchase costly things have always had a market or three more than happy to cater to them. This is nothing new. Lots of Dusenbergs sold at a time when Ford's humble little cars rolled off the line en-mass.

I do not get it either. Seems a 300.00 or 100,000.00 case is a tad much, but seeing such items offered for sale comes as no surprise.

If I were more wealthy, I would have no problem drinking only 30-60 year old single malt and smoking better cigars. That said, a 15 YO scotch is just fine and I do not think a hundred and four dollar cigar smokes any better than a 6-8 dollar cigar.

They were far less, but Utah attached an "85% of the retail selling price" tax to cigars here in Utah, so dollar cigars are now a buck 85 or so these days.

You can certainly spend less for the things I love and many would think rich old Bob has too much money.

Not sure I would drop a hundred grand on a case for an iPhone, though. But I am fiscally grounded and I can find better use for my cash. Perhaps a 300.00 case is not such a big deal if I knew I would stick with my iPhone for many years.

At least there are plenty of cheaper cases for your device.

I read the post about the hundred thousand dollar case. What about this one:

Most Expensive iPhone 5 Case at $302k! | Mobile | www.indiatimes.com

Three hundred grand is quite a bit for a case.

I think old money does not waste it on such things. They see a better way to use their cash. Cases like the above are for the kids who do not know any better.

I just had a great idea. I'll invent a "Switch-Stylus." Call it "Tactical' to impress those with a pressing need for a tactical iPhone case.

Perhaps make it out of "type Z-12 Geodesic Tactical Strand Carbon Fiber Type 4, Mark 2." It is called a Switch-Stylus because at the press of a button, an ice-pick like pointy thing flies out to stab the enemy before he or she invades Canada.

After all, if it is called "tactical" it must be militaryish. MAybe get a gubbernemt contract.

Add a few lines about how "they do not want you to have one" and the paranoids will have to have one. I'll be rich, I tell you what.
