I bought my wife a mytouch 3g over the holidays, and I'm an android convert.
However, my needs are a great deal different than hers. I'm a tech-focused business user who travels quite a bit, and trying to keep all of the models and OS combinations straight are driving me nuts. For example, what moron decided on cute names for the HTC phones when they are all running the same OS. Simple names like 1GHZOS1.5 would be nice to know right off the bat w/o digging into specs that aren't posted by the carrier.
The key features I'm looking for are:
1. Robust GSM provider here in the US. I like the flexibility of SIMs and the international standard of GSM, even though the frequencies are slightly different. CDMA is for the birds. I've got no problems unlocking a phone to use on a target network.
2. Attractively small form factor. The mytouch 3g is about the right size, however a host of phones have similar dimensions.
3. Computing Performance - I don't want to wait all day while it changes orientation, have it stutter as it reallocates memory, etc.
So my question to the august body before me: what are my options in the next three months, and what recommendations does this experienced crew have for a soon to be android adopter?
