The phone is C771 (Verizon Casio G'Zone Commando). It's detecting the USB connection but not charging for some reason. This started happening only after I reformatted to Windows 8. I did make sure to install the drivers.
That's strange - it's usually the other way around: it charges but isn't recognised.
The vast majority of connectivity and charging issues are due to defective USB cables - seems they're easily damaged. Have you tried a different cable?
Wild guess, but if that's not it, I would check if Windows 8 power management maybe disabled power to the USB ports .. That's usually an option in the reboot / F2 (or whatever) setup, but maybe Windows 8 is doing something clever ..
Okay, thanks for responding, it seems like the cable is fine but there's a problem with the computer's connection to the phone. However I now have an adapter for the USB to the wall socket, and that works fine. Thanks again!
I was able to get the charge only option to work. I just installed the drivers, plugged in the phone to USB mass storage mode, let the drivers install, switch to charge only, and it worked after those drivers installed. I also have adb on, so that might help as well.
