phone dial vibration in 2.1

I updated my phone to 2.1 via the OTA update. Noticed that the really annoying vibration for home, menu, back, and search is finally gone!

But allowing you to turn off all vibration would be just too uncool. So HTC invented yet another !@#$ vibration when the phone connects after you press dial.

Is there a way to turn this off? I looked everywhere but can't find any option to do this. Aaaahhhh!

The only way to turn it off is to root your phone and install a custom ROM in which that feature has been removed. Sorry!

I actually really like the vibrate feature when a call connects.
I dont have to hold the phone right up to my ear immediately, I know when I get the little vibrate my call has gone through.

Seeing as how I have really bad signal strength at work, this feature is cool. More than once I've made a call, and didn't even put the phone to my ear until after I felt it vibrate. A few times I was waiting 10+ seconds. That's 10 less seconds I spent holding it to my ear then looking at the phone to see if it's even dialing.

Interesting. But this could be done with a simple beep.

Feels like engineers are coming up with these ideas without any market research. I don't mind the vibration and I am sure it is useful to a lot of people, but you gotta let people turn it off if they don't want it.

When my current contract ends I'll probably just get an iphone. None of this vibration *#&$&. Actually, I will probably get a regular LG phone since the eris and similar phones are next to impossible to dial when I am driving. On my LG phone, I press 2 (speed-dial) and then <send>, it dials instantaneously. So easy and can be done without take my eyes off the road. On the eris it takes one swip to unlock, another swip to the side to bring to the speed dial screen, click a contact icon (you can't add mobile, and home for the same contact as 2 different icons, i mean who the #$*& designed this?), wait up to 5 seconds for the phone's Java system to garbage collect and finally shows the dial screen while wondering whether the button press registered or not...

But that's probably topic for another day.
