Phone dialer app with call status indicator

I have a Moto Z and am looking for an app to replace the stock phone dialer/contacts app. The problem I'm having is that when I'm on a call, if I change the screen (e.g., press the home button or swipe left or right), I no longer see anything to indicate there's a call in progress. Sometimes there's a tiny icon in the status/notifications bar at the top of the screen, but other times even that isn't there. So this means I can forget to hang up at the end of the call because there's no hang-up button for me to press. And once I remember, in order to hang up, I have to find my way back the dialer app screen.

Once in a while, I've even inadvertently dialed the phone, for example while searching for a place and hitting its phone button by mistake, and not realized it because there is no noticeable icon or button indicating a call in progress.

Can anybody recommend a phone app that keeps a status/hang-up button on the current screen?

Exdialer from the play store.
Each manufacturer will vary how a dialer works.
There are many out there, so try a few to see which one works best

Yes, I was hoping to get some recommendations. I'm on a Moto Z and it's the first phone where I'm having this problem. I had a Samsung S5 and other Motorola phones before, and there was always some kind of button showing a call in progress.
