Help Phone Dialer stopped working

Lurker
My wife just got the S4. Just today the phone dialer stopped working. When the phone dialer is pressed it opens but none of the numbers/tabs at the top are able to be pressed. Then she recieves the message "unfortunetly contatcs has stopped working". I've forced stopped the phone dialer and contacts and cleared the cache on both along with restarting the phone. Not rooted everything stock. Advice?

1) What carrier/model did she get?

2) Was there a software update after purchasing? If there was and it was a full firmware update, a factory reset may be best.

Verizon, just recieved an update last night and that's when the problem started. So I'm guessing a factory reset. Just was curious if it was a know issue with a fix besides a factory reset.

Same issue I've had since upgrading to 4.3

Luckily, I have not needed to dial an actual # since upgrading. Usually call from a text message or voice activation.

A possible band aid is to download a different dialer/contacts app?

Me and my stepson bought Huawei Ascend IIs last year. Provider is Net 10. Now on both phones the dialer is not working. The problem started at the same time with both phones. Now DC center is down. Any help?
