Phone dialing random numbers when using contacts

C Kennedy

Hey, hoping someone can help

Sometimes when I call people in my contacts a random person will pick up. Usually with a very strong foreign accent or different language. I only use the phone to call my parents. Sometimes if the call drops out (for whatever reason) I will fall them back immediately, again using the contacts, and a random person answers the phone.
This person can not ever hear me. And it is never a clear line. Then I hang up and use the same contact again and then the correct person answers the phone. It is all a bit weird

Does anyone have any idea on why this may happen?

I have had it using UK sim cards from 3 and ID mobile. Both on my samsung galaxy s8 and on Umidigi A5. It happens when I am calling UK numbers from Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

You may have faulty software in your phone or you may be experiencing the dreaded butt dial. There is one surefire way to correct this.

Perform a complete software reset which includes deleting the OS from your phone after you have backed up your contacts, songs photos and other important data. And reinstalling a fresh copy of the operating system from which your phone will operate.

This should allow your phone to function properly as it did from day one, and this should alleviate the mystery dialling bug. But the inadvertent butt dialling I do not have a cure for that. That is entirely up to you.

if a factory reset does not work then contact your carrier and see if some error is on their end......that is if anybody is there to help you...with all that is going on.

If you open up the Contacts app, open up the entry for one of those people and check if their phone numbers are correct, and that there are only valid phone numbers for the ones that have multiple ones (i.e. home, mobile, work, etc.)
