Root Phone dies and loses apps/homescreen?

So today I heard my phone give a chirp like it was dying, so I picked it up and checked it and it instantly died. After booting it back up, my homescreen has been wiped back to the default rom homescreen. My apps still show up as installed and when I try to open one, it begins to open it and then gives an error message saying the app has stopped working.

Also, every now and then it will pop up with a message sayings something about gapps has stopped working. I've tried restarting my phone a couple times and nothing seems to be working. Anyone else experience this and find a solution?

Sounds like something got corrupted, try clearing cache and dalvik in recovery, if that doesn't help then try fixing permission in recovery as well. Good luck and let us know how you make out. :D
