Help Phone displays "htc" screen after playing games on SD card

HELP! I've taken my phone to the Sprint store twice to have this fixed. It's almost like the phone tries to reboot itself each time I play a game on the SD card. It "shuts" down the program, at least it appears to, and then goes to the white screen with the green htc logo on it. Then, my apps start appearing on the screen until its done whatever it's doing.

The first time, they just gave me a new SD card and said to try that. It worked, of course, but everything I saved to it (Angry birds, photos, etc) was gone. The next time, they weren't quite sure what to do with it, but said it wasn't causing any harm, so it must be OK. NICE. It still does it, and it's totally frustrating. I've turned the phone off and rebooted it several times. It does OK for a while, but then reverts to doing it again after a bit.

Anyone had this happen or know how to fix it??

Thanks!!

Greetings and welcome!!
What is happening is sense is reloading....
I've had that also in the past and being rooted I was able to wipe cache and dalvik cache and it would be fine for a while.
Never quite figured it out as I switched roms and no longer have that issue...
Perhaps a factory reset will help but you will lose your apps/settings etc...as in, like when you first got your phone.
I was once told by someone wiser than I that perhaps I had a widget "stuck" on my sd card, but still couldnt figure it out.
I assume you are not rooted?:)

Thanks! I wish I would have found this forum a year ago when I had the problem the first time.

Not to sound completely ignorant, though I'm truly not tech savvy, but I have no idea what "not rooted" means, so I'd say not.

Is the sense rebooting hurting anything? It's so annoying that it happens EVERY time we play a couple of different games. I'd hate to set everything back to factory settings. I've had the phone for nearly 2 years, so I'd lose a lot.

Thoughts??

Does it hurt anything? No, and yes it is annoying, I completely understand that as I have gone thru the same thing.
Like I said, I never figured it out and now I am on an AOSP rom and it doesn't happen.
Perhaps you would be interested in rooting. Some people have an interest and some do not. And that's o.k.
I understand you will lose alot if you do a factory reset. However, I don't believe it wipes your sd card but not sure...you can always backup your sd card to computer, reset phone, then transfer back sd card contents.:)
I wish I could find where I posted about that issue.

Edit: does it reload when you exit out of the game or in the middle of playing game?

The evo is just showing it's age. The newer games us up more memory and it's essentially booting sense out of the stuff it can easily pull out of cached memory. So yeah it's annoying but not a whole lot you can do about it unless you're interested in rooting your device.

Well, just rebooted in the middle of the game and the touchscreen decided to stop working all together, then literally the phone shut itself down. This is new. Lucky me. I might have to back up the SD card, like you suggested and start over. I would LOVE to get a new device, but I'm months from that happening. Per my contract, I cant' do anything until 1/1.

Any reason why the phone would restart itself? I just shut the phone all the way down, and I'll start it back up in a minute.

Well, in light of this new development, how old is the battery?
Perhaps the battery contacts are dirty and it rebooted itself thinking the battery was pulled then reinserted?

My first phone started rebooting a lot during heavy use and it eventually got worse and worse and had it replaced. Others have had the same thing happen as well. Just keep an eye on what you're specifically doing when you get reboots so we can try and pinpoint the issue.

In my case, I think some kind of cooling element had failed.
