Help Phone doesn't recognize USB connection. Please help?

Hi all. I am the happy owner of a Huawei P8, but lately I've been running into the same problem. I'd really like to transfer some data from my phone to my laptop, but my phone doesn't seem to recognize it's connected via USB. It does charge, though, it just doesn't give me the option to use any other kind of USB mode. I've already tried (and failed) using the following options:

- using other USB cables
- using different computers
- rebooting both my phone and my computer
- installing new drivers on my computer

I've also tried debugging USB on my phone, but when I go into developer options (whilst connected to USB), it doesn't allow me to enable debug mode. I can't seem to switch it on. It says in lightgrey text: 'USB debugging, Debug mode when USB is connected'; once more indicating it doesn't recognize its USB connection.

Does anyone know of a solution that might work? 'Cause I'm kind of at a loss here.

Thanks.

If you have the Huawei drivers installed it should be as simple as setting the phone's USB mode to MPT .
When you first plug cable from PC into phone you should see a USB symbol in the top left drop down menu. Pull down on the menu and select USB should give you options.
USB debugging should be selected in Developer Options before you connect cable. There also may be other USB settings in Developer Options.

Thanks for your answer. The Huawei drivers are installed, so I have no idea why it doesn't let me set its USB mode to MTP. When I plug the cable in, all it does is charge, it doesn't give me any options whatsoever.

As for USB debugging: whether the phone's connected or not, I still cannot enable debug mode (as seen in the screenshot)

Any ideas?

Not sure why it would be grayed out unless you have a option to turn on Developer Options. Look at the top of Developer Options menu.

All is working now! :) Thanks so much! Developer options were turned on already, but out of desperation I tried turning them on and off a bunch of times, and (don't ask me how or why but) all of a sudden I was able to put debug mode on. I connected the phone via USB to my laptop and everything started working perfectly again.

Once again, thanks a lot for you time and effort!

I have the same problem. I just bought a Moto G3 and when I plug it in to my PC, the PC does not recognise it as anything but a new drive (there are no folders under the new drive name). Thus I cannot even copy music from my PC to the MotoG3. Also, when I connect my phone to my PC, on the phone there is no notification message or USB symbol appearing - nothing happens! I am stuck at step one with my new phone. Help greatly appreciated!

Do you have Motorola USB drivers installed on your PC?
