So my power button is dyeing on this AT&T Nexus One... again. Makes me sad because this is by far the best smart phone I have ever used/seen. This time I am way out of warrantee, but I do have my SquareTrade warrantee. I am going to wait as long as the button holds out... but assuming it died TODAY and SqaureTrade cut me my replacement check TODAY. What phone is the best replacement? I am leaning towards the Nexus S because... well I like the Nexus Pure Google experience, but I have not kept up with the smart phones since buying the Nexus (self-defense against phone envy LOL) so what do you all suggest?

Best is always highly subjective. If you want some meaningful suggestions then provide your needs/wants (which are missing as is typical with threads like this for some reason). I guess we know you prefer vanilla Android but is that it? Do you have any preferences for physical characteristics? Most people seem to have strong preferences in that area. Are you sticking with at&t? Not all devices support all network techs or carrier bands.

We only know what you tell us and subjective means that it's dependent on you.

Sure. Yes I plan to stick with AT&T right now. I am not under contract, but I have been with them for years and been happy.

I like vanilla android,(but dont have a lot of exposure to other ui's) a decent camera&video, I like the form factor of Nexus One, but I am not happy with its lack of solid multi-touch. I would like the dual core (if gonna upgrade, then want to upgrade), a bright screen that I can use outside. I like the trackball for editing, but its not a key point. Like to stick with something that stays updated. I would like expandable memory but it to have at least 8gb internal, 16 would be better, so dont have to constantly move stuff to SD like I currently do. I like to get a full days battery with out plugin in (Nexus is marginal on this)

I do not want to have to root to unlock normal android features like market, Amazon store, side loading, hotspot, etc.
