Help Phone dying

Hi,
I took the phone (S3) back to o2 today because even after a factory reset, it was laggy, needed several stabs at icons to get them to work, the wifi was slow, as was waiting for something to load from the web. I have 60+ mb/sec here broadband, so not that.
For the best part of 2 weeks, I have had to go back to a SE 810i- really hacked off already , lol. That old fashioned texting is a pita. Going to be a long fortnight.:(:(:(

Wished you had posted here first, or did you? Cleaning the Cache using Recovery would have cleared up about 75% of the problem.

Hi GT,
I thought of that after I had sent phone away, but as phone had a facotory reset only a week or more earlier, there can't have been much on there in the way of temp stuff.
Borrowed my son's old iphone 3G-at least I will be able to get my emails, and text a lot easier. Will be better than an old SE 810i anyway.
On reflection, the phone may have been iffy from the start, because it never seemed any faster than my old iphone 4.
Thanks

The phone came back from O2 last Thursday. Friday night, everytime I used it , it told me SD card was removed unexpectantly (didn't touch it). No data was lost. This happened all weekend. Twice last night and twice this morning, the phone seized up altogether--only a battery removal got it going. Up yours HTC 1.
I need a reliable phone, so removed the SD card when phone was off, ready to send back.. I was going to return it to O2 today.
But when I put the battery back in, turned it on, the phone was mega quick. Back as it was when I first had it- before I put in the SD card. Result- not quite, the bloody thing just froze, turned itself off .
So it's back to O2 tomorrow. :(:(:(

Might also be worth checking what firmware it came back with. There is some reboot/freeze issues with all but the latest release.

Try taking the card out and copy every thing to the PC using a card reader. Put the card back into the phone and do a full Format using the phone. Now move your stuff back to the card. Hope this works out for you.

To XplosiV
Thank for info, but only got the one SD card.

To GT,
Thanks, - I will do that as soon as son brings back my card reader---kids !!!!

To Pothers,
Likewise, thanks--Build is JZO54K.19300XXELLA. Is that what you mean ?
Someone here reckoned that there was another letter after the A for the latest build. ???

ExplosiV- funny you should mention the EMC2 update. It has just been installed on my phone. Will watch and see what happens now.

Pothers---You were on the ball with your firmware comment.

GT--I used to have a few thousand songs on the SD card---I used them when I was a trucker, bit since retiring, they are no longer accessed. So don't need the card- especially now the phone is now absolutely flying quick. 16 GB is now more than enough. I am looking for a second hand Xperia T for the wife, so will use the card in that.
Thanks again to all
Greg

Another update---
Tried putting the SD card back in this afternoon- the phone went all of 21 minutes before the " SD card removed unexpectantly" notification turned up like a bad penny.
There maybe something not right with the card because when I am transfering contents to the pc, it kicks out near the end of the process. There is over a thousand music tracks on the sd card, so don't really want to format it. It will be a PIA to find all the tracks again

The SD card is a class 4---should it be 6, 8 or 10 for better performance ???
Made by San Disk.
Thanks

Copy all the song to the PC. Hope the son returned the card reader. If you Format the card make sure to do it in the PHONE.

Formatted SD card in phone----put back the music I had on there. Played a few songs. It then said SD card was blank--which it wasn't. Turned off phone. Turned back on, no mention of SD card and no music either. Taking phone back to shop today. Hacked off with it. I can only say my iphone 4 never had any faults in all the 2 1/2 years I had it. My wifes Xperia Arc had never had sd card troubles either---so it IS a Galaxy S3 thing. I will post this in the SD card probs section too.

Just this second turned phone on to check a message, and then found all the songs back on SD card----what the hell is happening????

Still think you just need a new SD card

Make sure media scanning icon has disappeared before you try playing media.

I will get another card, but which to get? San Disk, Kingston ??
What speed---got a 4--will I need a 6, 8 or 10 ??
Will only need 16GB, so is that the best size---equal to what is phone memory ??
This aggro is nearly as bad as getting airbox rubbers onto a Kawasaki EN500-- pox job. :(:(:(
Thanks,
Greg
