Help Phone freezes during text and e-mail

Whenever I start typing a text message, my phone freezes when I touch the first letter. It happens every time and I have to restart the phone. It also happens when I try to type while I am in the generic e-mail app. For some reason, I don't have the problem when I use the keyboard for other apps, such as internet. Any ideas? I am using the default keyboard, just fyi. Thanks!

If you are stock and unrooted, I would start with Sprint Customer Service. Otherwise, you could try some of the other text and browser apps like Handcent and Dolphin to see if you have the same problems.

Try going into Settings, then Applications, and then Manage Applications. Look for the text messaging app and try clearing out the cache or data for it.

An alternative would be to use a third party text messaging app like Handcent SMS. Finally, you might want to think about a full factory reset.
