Help Phone Frozen or Just a Long Process?

Newbie
So, I just got my Essteem recently, and wanted to try the internet connection USB mode. I plugged it in to my computer and selected it as my internet source on the computer. Got no internet, and the phone went into a screen with the LG logo up top and a static (as in not moving) sync icon followed by "Download is in progress. Do not disconnect cable." This has been running for roughly 30 minutes so far

So my question is: Is my phone frozen, or is this just a massively long process? If it's a long process, how long should I wait?

By now I would be pulling the battery.

Nothing happens when u select that same feature..your not going to get a signal or anything..same thing happen..but i dont bother..

Just got the phone. Got home same thing. Download in progress. Do not disconnect cable. But the progress bar is not moving at all and yeah like 15 minutes now for me. I did battery pull, phone started back up. maybe something in the system update? I hope I didn't get a bunk phone.

ahhh man!! this happend to me yesterday i was scared my phone was damaged...i let it sit there and nothing happend..then i pulled the usb charger and it just stayed there so i pulled the battery and it started right up....very wierd..

I just took mine back to the store. They returned the phone and gave me a new one. But now 30 minutes into the new one i'm getting the same message. This phone is screwy. I'm just gonna get my money back if someone can't explain this.

Actually your phone crashed. It's not supposed to go into that "download is in progress" screen. Can you post more details about your computer?

The internet connection setting is a bit misguiding; you're not actually connecting the phone to your computer's internet or your computer to the phone's internet, it's simply changing the USB connection from mass storage to modem.

Did you return your second phone? mine is doing exactly the same thing
and its my second phone already

No. I kept the second phone and now it works fine. I realized that it was freezing up when I had the external sd card in so i removed that and the phone ran smooth no problems. I then reformatted my micro sd card and all things are good now. hope you got it working.

Got my phone on 10/1/11. By the afternoon my phone froze twice. The next day it happened 3 more time. On 10/3/11 i brought it back to the Corporate Store and they gave me a new phone. The Rep. told me that some stores are turning on the phones on before they insert the sim card. They were told to insert all the cards into the phones before they sell anymore phone. Since then i have not had a problem.
Hope this helps

my phone said download mode do not pull out cable, and i poped out the battery on the phone i did not trust that for nothing on earth.
