Help Phone is crashing out the box

Hello,

This past Friday I bought my wife and I both a Kyocera Hydro. Both of them were bought from Best Buy. Right out of the box, the phones crash and will stay frozen for like 5 minutes or until we take the battery out or hold the power button for 10 seconds to reboot.

I owned a Nexus before this so I know its not normal. Its absolutely ridiculous. I took my phone off the charger at 1pm today, used it during my breaks (1 hr today of actual use) and its froze on me 4 times. My wife is having the same problems so I know its not a defective phone, it just sucks.

My questions is....IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS? I thought maybe its because its a low spec phone running ICS. So if I root it, is there anything I could put on there that would help? Like maybe installing Gingerbread or something that is not so demanding on the phone. I like the phone overall and I'm not a picky guy, I can handle a little lag, but for someone who uses their smartphone mainly on breaks on the weekdays the fact it has crashed EVERY SINGLE DAY is just absurd.

Please help!!!

If I were you would exchange them. Something is definitely wrong.
You may have defective hardware.

Try putting a thin piece of paper prior putting the battery in.On some phones without forementioned the connectors themselves are not touching properly causing hardware malfunctions. This was apparent on the rise especially for those who could not use their phone without having charger connected
