Root Phone is stuck on black screen

Newbie
I was just trying to unroot my phone with the RUU Supersonic thing, and it said something failed and now my phone is stuck on the black HTC evo screen.

I can't view the files from the computer or anything

Can you pull the battery then reboot to hboot?

(pull battery, wait 10 seconds, put it back, then hold volume down+power at the same time til it loads a white screen)

You need to run the one for the hboot you had otherwise it will error out and not work. Let me see if I can find the one for yours. Does your computer still recognize the phone when plugged in?

Well, me personally I would call and tell them but I have a different relationship with the sprint store here. It would be your call if you told them or not. They may not be able to tell that anything was done too it as it won't boot and the computer won't recognize it.

I'll call Sprint and just say what happened.

Last question, could I put the sd card into a computer and remove some of the files? Or are the files not on the sd card?

I would put take everything off of the card and format it myself. That eliminates any person stuff that might be on there and any chance that there is stuff on it to show that you had anything to do with the way the phone is now.

I called Sprint and she said to take it into a store, and if they can't fix it I have to pay $35 to get it fixed.

Really annoying, and I wish I would have never rooted it.

Anyone else know anything that could fix it>?

This is a rare occurance and likely just because you ended up following an out dated procedure to unroot. When you get it taken care of, come back here and we can make sure its done right. Why did you want to unroot in the first place? What method did you use to root the phone?

Unfortunately if you can't power up the phone and can't get to hboot you are likely stuck taking it in. Did you try and run the RUU I linked you to? Maybe give that a try but if it doesnt see your phone it won't work.

You might not have to pay the $35 depending on the insurance coverage you have.

Yeah I tried the link you posted and the phone wasn't being recognized.

I wanted to unroot it because it my vibration wasn't working, and it seemed like it caused alot of log.

Just to share my experience. I have rooted 6 Evos so far, my Sprint Hero before that and a couple of Epic 4g. The rewards for it are worth the risk in my opinion. Unrevoked is a simple and painless way to root your phone and unlock its potential. Don't let this make you gun shy about it. You should read the Rooting for Dummies guide if you haven't already. If you have questions, ask. There are many on here willing to help.

Yeah, now I wish I would have asked to see what was the right program to unroot it, and not follow some 10 year olds video
