Help Phone keeps reboot after flashing ics

Newbie
Hello,
So i bit the bullet and installed ics (LPQ) on friday. All went well until Sunday when my phone randomly started freezing and I had to pulled the battery to get the phone to turn on again. I wiped the cache, and factory reset it but no luck so I went back to 2.3.5 and am no on KI8. However no my phone just keeps turning off every 5 minutes. It really annoying. It also just happens when it is not on charge when charging the phone works fine.
Has any one had any similar issue or could anyone offer any assistance on what might me wrong.
Thank you

Do you restore your Apps from something like Titanium Backup? Could be a corrupt app.

Maybe a corrupt file on your SD card which an app is using, try removing the card.

I would flash stock and then just leave it with the base apps, copy the contents of your internal memory and then format it and remove the SD card. Leave it running like this for a couple of hours and see if it still reboots.

If it's still rebooting then you're probably looking at hardware rather than software.

Yes I though that i might be the back up so i left the phone without titanium installed and only stock apps and still had the issue. Ill give that a try later and see if that can sort it. The idea that its just when the phone is not plugged in leads me to believe its software but i could be wrong.

So I deleted format the internal storage and wiped the cache and factory reset the phone but still no luck the phone rebooted after 5 minutes. I dont know what to do

Looking back at your post it says that this only happens when the phone is on battery power? If you leave it plugged into the charger it works fine?

Does it feel hotter than usual? the device could be overheating.

Are you flashing the phone with your providers firmware? You could try not setting up your google account and put the phone into airplane mode and see if it still reboots.

It's sounds like you'll need to get your provider to replace/repair it. I had a similar problem with my HTC Desire, flashing the device with a non stock rom effectively uncovered a hardware problem with the radio stack. They replaced the mainboard in the end.

The device doesn't feel overly hot so I dont think that's is the issue. At the moment I have my carriers stock firmware that is rooted I will try the original kernel later to see if the root is the issue. I put it in flight mode there to see if it reboots. Ill update if it does

So I have left my device in airplane mode the last couple of hours and it has not turned itself off which would lead me to believe it is the radio. Is there any way do fix this without getting a jig and resetting the counter and bringing it back

go into settings->about phone

what baseband/Kernel and Build are you on at the moment?

Also what mobile provider are you with

I am on baseband XXKI4 and the Kernal version XWKI8 is a rooted kernal. My provider is meteor in Ireland

How did you get Gingerbread back on the device?

I would probably try downloading the latest firmware from checkfus and reflash with ODIN.

http://fus.nanzen.se/download.php?id=12

run this app and choose your provider on the right hand side

Product Code: GT-I9100LKAMET
Latest firmware: I9100XWKI8/I9100METKJ1/I9100XXKI4/I9100XWKI8

This firmware dating back to 22/10/2011 is the latest apparently.

Do not root and just use the phone for a couple of hours.

To get gingerbread back on I went to Samfirmware and download the meteor one on there firmware page and flashed it on using odin. Then i got the root kernel off xda from chainfire and flashed that with odin.
What is Checkfus? Edit:Sorry know what checkfus is now
Thanks for all the help

Hi,

found this thread whilst searching because I have the same problem with my S2 crashing since updating it. The last time my phone crashed I noticed just before that that my wifi seemed to 'stick' (I switched it on and it went to a slightly darker shade of green whilst trying to find the network, but it didn't connect and seemed to crash - it won't let me turn it off or on in the settings when this happens) I have noticed the wifi crash a few times but only just noticed the two happening with eachother. Have you found the same?

Last night I did a hard reset, flashed the phone to o2 gingerbread (not the original firmware that was on the phone, as I've forgotten what that was) and then updated to the latest firmware via Kies and that has fixed both my wifi and crashing issues - no crashes since I updated at 8pm last night, so you might want to go give that a go!

Did you fix it?

No couldn't get it fixed in the end tried everything so it must have been a hardware issue. Sent it back to the shop and they couldnt fix it either so have to go collect a new phone today. Guess there is a plus side to all of this
