Help Phone location?

So I have a rather curious question. I have downloaded the cardiotrainer app (very nice by the way) and it has this option to see how far you have run on the world map. Well when I check this it assumes my location is in new york. I also downloaded a facebook mobile chat thing and I had to go on my computers internet to verify I was the owner of the phone because once again it read my phone as me trying to log into the app from new york, and I'm not from new york haha.I'm just curious if anyone else haas had this happenon their phone? Its not a big deal its just kinda annoying but if anyone can let me know something about this it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks, eric

Is your GPS on? It probably uses GPS to find your location and if it is not on, then it shows your location as the default, which must be New York. Or the app is not working the way it should.

If you don't have the GPS on, and you were running it through a WiFi connection, it might be pulling your location based on an IP address of your ISP or some other random reason like that.

I would suggest opening Google Maps and turning on the GPS and see where it pinpoints your location. If it still says New York, it is a problem with your GPS.
